All children are equally important and shall enjoy the same rights and opportunities. However, surveys and actual conditions show that girls in developing countries are the most vulnerable group who suffers.
- According to the United Nations Population Fund, nearly 50% of Bangladesh girls are married before the age of 18, and 15% of them are even under the age of 15.
- In Bangladesh, poverty is one of the main reasons for girls being forced into early marriage. Apart from Child Marriage, they also face threats such as school dropout, early pregnancy, and domestic violence.
Through the Run For Girl 2024 event, we hope to arouse the public's attention about girl's rights and aims at ensuring every girl and young woman has power over her own life and can shape the world around her. We are aiming to change the way girls are valued in society so they no longer have to face injustice and oppression.
